Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1979 (10/03)
This report is based on two specimens, comprising collection 79DB364A-2, from the south slope of Mt. Whipple in Bradford Cannal sheet C-5.
Report by: Ellis L. Yochelson
Referred by: David A. Brew
Age: Early Permian (Early Permian [?])
Comment:Preservation leaves a lot to be desired but I am reasonably certain that these two gastropods (not cephalopods) are Omphalotrochus. If this is correct the age is early Permian. The specimens are shallow water marine, possibly nearshore, but I cannot give a meaningful paleo-ecological analysis based on two poor specimens. If the quality were just a bit better, I would have no hesitancy about early Permian. Almost without any question whatsoever, the beds are late Paleozoic.
