Re your samples 73A Wr 227A and B, and also my collection EL-63-45B.

Samples 73A Wr 227A and B; Clay beds, possibly lake deposits, in thick section of semiconsolidated gravel, in Dad Creek; Mt. Hayes A-3 quad., Center of N. line of sec. 4, T. 20 S., R. 12 E.; the sample contains only a tiny amount of organic material and no pollen. Since you asked about a collection you and I made in the McCallam Creek area we counted it and report on it below. One of four collections, EL-63-45A from the tan-grey clays at McCallam Creek was devoid of pollen.

EL-63-45B (Paleobot. loc. D5149) , Mt Hayes , Sample EL-63-45B; lignitic and woodbearing clays, 20 feet below thin white ash bed near top of Tertiary conglomerate ridge; along Richardson Hiway; the white ash bed dips down to the west. East of the site is a covered area and then a fault with gravels dipping down to the NE on its east side. The results of a tally are below; pollen is moderately well preserved. (Assigned USGS Paleobot. loc. No. D5149).
