Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
This cone was found on a river bar of the Meade River (Lat 70 deg.00', Long 157 deg. 12'; 10.74"E and 0.0"N of SW corner of Meade River Quad) far beyond the present limit of spruce and hundreds of miles outside the present range of hemlock. It was identified as Tsuga by Chester Arnold; I would like a specific identification. Its presence on Meade River indicates the presence of early Pleistocene or late Tertiary sediments somewhere in the vicinity.
