Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Collector and year: Coonrad and Konigsmark 1952
Field locality numbers: 52AHr3023 & 52AHr1182
Field notebook reference: 52AHr3023 in Konigsmark's notebook #1, 1952, page 16, 52AHr1182 in Coonrad's notebook #1, 1952, page 47.

The main problem is geologic age of the rocks. The 3023 fossils came from the lower 50' of a 300' section of mudstones and siltstones with minor sandstone interbeds. The mudstones overlie 50' of sandy grit that in turn appears to lie unconformable upon a thick section of graywacke and argillite of probable Lower Cretaceous age. Low angle structures are found in the carbonaceous series of rocks while steep dips and tight folds are found in the rocks of the graywacke section.

Specimen 52AHr1182 came from a section of altered sandstones and siltstones again in close association with a gritty pebble conglomerate horizon. Alteration of the rocks was caused by a series of near surface rhyolitic and basic instrusions.

52AHr1182 , Nushagak Bay , None given in E&R report. Transmittal sheet gives lat./long. of 58 deg. 49' 14" N., 159 deg. 58' 18" W - additional description given in transmittal sheet under collector's comments and notes that specimen 52AHr1182 came from a section of altered sandstone and siltstones ... in close association with a gritty pebble conglomerate horizon. Alteration of the rocks was caused a by a series of near surface rhyolitic and basic intrusions.

52AHr3023 , Hagemeister Island , None given in E&R report proper, however, transittal sheet gives lat./long. of 58 deg. 52' 30" N, 160 deg. 05' 22" W., and notes that specimens from 3023 came from the lower 50' of a 300' section of mudstones and siltstones with minor sandstone interbeds. The mudstones overlie 50' of sandy grit that in turn appears to lie unconformable upon a thick section of graywacke and argillite of probable Lower Cretaceous age.
