Stratigraphic range: Permian and Permian(?)
Kinds of fossils: Marine invertebrates
Quadrangle or area: Arctic and Table Mtn. quads.
Shipment No.: A-72-24
Referred by: Brosge, William P.
Report prepared by: Dutro, J. Thomas, Jr.
Date: 02/13/1973

The large collection of brachiopods from the Table Mtn. quad. represents the higher Permian of the Echooka Fm., as it is developed further north. The age is either high Zone F or Zone G (of Waterhouse, 1971). The coral collection (Rr284) is presumably about the same age but the material will be reported on separately.

The other collections all come from the silty argillites further south in the Arctic quadrangle. The rocks are like Siksikpuk lithology to the west of the quadrangle, but they also resemble the lower strata of the Sadlerochit Fm. in the Joe Creek Valley. The fauna is a small one, characterized by Martinia, and may be equivalent to some part of Zone E of Waterhouse. Thus it would be early Permian and equivalent in age to the Siksikpuk Fm.

The material is being retained.

Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Collections R253B and B272B and 275C should give age of the basal Sadlerochit, for comparison with age of the top of the Lisburne from nearby collections.

Are B288C & D Permian or Triassic?
