Stratigraphic range: Permian-Triassic
Kinds of fossils: Brachiopods, Gastropods
Quadrangle or area: Nabesna D-6, C-5 Quads., Alaska
Shipment No.: A-67-13
Referred by: Richter, Donald H.
Report prepared by: Grant, Richard E.
Date: 03/27/1968

The salient conclusion to be drawn from the fossils is that sample number 29617-Mesozoic (field no. 67-ARh-155) contains a Triassic brachiopod. According to the sketch of the section on the transmittal sheet, this sample occures below others that contain Permian brachiopods. The Triassic specimen is silicified, in good condition, and the identification was confirmed by G. A. Cooper of the U. S. National Museum. The sketch indicates some peculiarities, and the limestone within a basalt suggests unusual conditions. I leave the interpretation to those who have seen the field relationships, but point out that the identifications of the fossils can be considered reliable.
