Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Letter to J.T. Dutro, Jr., from Brosge, dated June 13, 1968

Dear Tom:

Thank you for digging out 24AMt8. Now that the identifications are up to date I would like to improve Mertie's location data too. According to the pace and compass traverse and description of tributary streams in Mertie's notes, the locality is not 7 3/4 miles above the mouth of the Unakserak as Bull. 815 states. It is 4 1/2 to 5 miles above the mouth of the Unakserak and is downstream from the mouth of Alkali Creek.

User Note module to be added
24AMt8 (1973-SD) , Survey Pass , Alaska, Survey Pass quad., west side of canyon of Unakserak River, 7-3/4 miles from the confluence of the Unakserak and Alatna Rivers. Rocks mapped as "Undifferentiated Silurian(?) rocks by J.B. Mertie. Collector: J.B. Mertie, Jr., 1924. [W.P. Brosge in letter of June 13, 1968 indicates that he believes this locality is actually 4 1/2 to 5 miles above the mouth of the Unakserak and is downstream from the mouth of Alkali Creek.
