This report covers a single collection (59ALy327) which is of Permian age. It very likely represents about the same beds as collection 57AL117 (shipment A-57-6) from the north-central part of Admiralty Island. Both collections contain the distinctive Permian brachiopod Muirwoodia.

Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
The collections 59ALy327 and 329 are thought to be Permian and are the only fossils of that age which have been found in this area. If these rocks are Permian they represent a different facies than the white cherty limestone of the Pybus Bay area to the south. 59ALy329 may be Buddington's old locality mentioned on p. 127 of Bull. 800 coll. 5137. The porous ball-like forms of 59ALy328 may be Triassic in age. At this time, only brief, perhaps informal, classification of collections is desired as an aid to the field mapping now in progress.
