Summary

This report is concerned with two collections (58ALy164 and 58ALy423) that were obtained from rocks considered to be of Triassic age in the field. N.J. Silberling's report February 25, 1959, indicated that these were to be turned over to Duncan along with three others (58ALy448, -448a, and -456), that contained fossils of "probable pre-Mesozoic age." After the collections in question were located this past winter, the three that you inquired about on July 15, 1956 [note by R.B. Blodgett: one would presume that 1959 was meant here, not 1956], were transferred to W.A. Oliver for study inasmuch as the fossils seemed to be early rather late Paleozoic types. Oliver's report of March 10, 1960, deals with these lots.

In the remaining collections, evidence that confirms the Triassic field assignment was found in 58ALy164. A Permian brachiopod-bryozoan fauna occurs in lot 58ALy423.

The hydrozoans, corals, and bryozoans were studied by Duncan. Dutro identified the brachiopods.
