Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
The numerous collections of Inoceramus, especially of undulato-plicatus and of schmidti, from areas underlain by the lower shale and siltstone member of the Matanuska fm. were made because the distribution of restricted fossil zones appears to offer the best means of reliably detecting structure in the southwest part of the Copper River Basin, which is predominantly underlain by this very thick unit.
