Comment: | This belodellid is common in Silurian and Devonian faunas. Belodellas do not occur above the Devonian. The conodont "pearls" are dimpled lamellar apatite spheres that have been reported associated with conodonts from Upper Cambrian through Carboniferous deposits. It has been suggested that they are pearls secreted by the conodont-bearing animal. They are of little biostratigraphic use. AGE: Silurian-Devonian. CAI=about 1-1/2 indicating the host rock never reached in excess of 90o C. 1.7 kg of carbonate was processed for conodonts (100 g of +20 mesh material remained undissolved after acid treatment) |
