Sample: Sample No. 92AD47A -- USGS No. 32439-PC
Locality: Field No. 92AD47A
Description: Howard Pass C-3. Lat. 68o 30'53" N., Long. 157o 32'00" W. Sample from 5-cm-thick unulatory beds of lime crinoidal packstone-grainstone with millimeter-thick shaly partings. Thin section is crinoidal grainstone along with minor dolomite and chert. Collected approx. 20 m stratigraphically below 92AD49A (loc. 68) and approx. 340 m below the top of the Mlb unit. Heavy-mineral concentrate includes gastropod steinkerns. (description from Dover et al., 2004, p. 38 (Table 1));
[Howard Pass C-3. 68°30'53", 157°32'00". 5 cm-thick undulatory beds of lime crinoidal packstone-grainstone with mm-thick shaly partings.
Collected ~2- stratigraphically below 92AD49A.
Collected at ~940 m elevation, due west of 92AD49; center sec. 4, T. 11 S., R. 24 W.
Armstrong suggested an age of late Osagean or Meramecian (based on brachiopods and corals) for 47A and 47E lithologies, slightly (few 100 m) south of this locality. (description from Harris E&R report dated March 17, 1995)]

Report by: Jim Dover , Irv L. Tailleur , Julie A. Dumoulin
Age: Lower Mississipian (Early Mississipian (probably no older than late Kinderhookian))
Formation: Lisburne Group (Bupto facies of Lisburne Group (Upper and Lower Mississippian))
CAI:Min: 1.5
Comment:Age: Early Mississippian, probably older than late Kinderhookian.

Biofacies: Indeterminate (too few conodonts); probably normal-marine depositional environment. Conodont species association is similar to that found in some samples of the Rough Mountain Creek unit (Mlr).

Shown as locality 67 on Sheet 2; map unit: Mlb

CAI=1.5

Processed 9.0 kg of rock.

Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1995 (03/17)
Analysis of all samples is given in the accompanying 16-page table. The range of biostratigraphically important samples is shown on the accompanying diagram. The heavy-mineral concentrates were analyzed by Nancy Stamm; the residues have been returned to Julie Dumoulin. Please note a few (~4 samples have heavy-mineral concentrates that include chalcopyrite and bornite).
