Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1979 (08/06)
Report by: William A. Oliver , Jr.
Referred by: David A. Brew , S. J. Hunt
Age: Silurian-Devonian
Comment:Fragments of rugose corals and stromatoporoids are fairly common but badly recrystallized and flattened. Some of the corals are almost certanly post-Ordovician, and the number of stromatoporoid fragments suggests pre-Late Devonian age. A Silurian to Middle Devonian age seems likely. If the Amphipora is correctly identified this reduces the likely age range to Late Silurian to Middle Devonian.
The collection will be checked for conodonts as requested. [From Anita Harris' report (8/6/79): 2.8 kg of carbonate was processed for conodonts (247 g of +20 mesh material remained undissolved after acid treatment): NO CONODONTS WERE RECOVERED]
