Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Lat 61 deg. 34.7', long 159 deg. 57.4'
Base of rock cliff 20 to 60 feet high forming north bank of Kuskokwim River about 14 miles S.89 deg. W. of Aniak and about 12 miles N. 76 deg. E. Kalskag. Fossils occur in at least 3 thin zones up to 7 inches thick in several hundred feet of steeply dipping dark gray to olive-gray siltstone or argillite. Farther east and stratigraphically below the fossil-bearing beds there is more greenish argillite and quartzite graywacke. Westward and above the fossiliferous rocks is an angular unconformity above which is a greenish-gray conglomeratic graywacke containing boulders of argillite. Red to maroon argillite and andesitic volcanic rocks, largely tuff, overlies the conglomerate westward.
