Description: |
Howard Pass C-3. Lat. 68o 35'55" N., Long. 157o 41'00" N. Sample from cross- and parallel-laminated, fine-grained limestone bed (70 cm thick), 1 m above base of 80-m-thick measured section of unit Mlri. Thin section is calcareous spiculite containing lesser siliceous spicules, calcite-replaced radiolarians, and laminae of noncalcareous mud. Table 4 contains additional data from this locality. (description from Dover et al., 2004, p. 33 (Table 1)); [Field nos. 91AD11A, 11G, and 11J are from about an 80 m section of Lisburne Group in the Ipnavik allochthon on a northwest-trending ridge, 2 km southeast of the headwaters of Ribbon Creek and 0.4 km due west of an unnamed tributary of Cutaway Creek. Samples from north side of ridge, east slope. Top of ridge at about 680 m. From lat. 68°54.8', long. 157°38.8', sec. 11, T. 10 S., R. 25 W., Howard Pass C-3 quadrangle. All samples with the prefix 90AD59 are from a measured section through the west end of Ivotuk Hills, east side of Otuk Creek (west side of hill 745 m), sec. 20, T. 11 S., R. 16 W., lat. 68°28.5', long. 155°43.0'. Basal unit (59C) was mapped as "Kayak Shale"; all other samples are from the Lisburne Group. |
