"Clasts" include brown, noncalcareous mudstone, dark, clotty micrite, crinoid ossicles, dolostone, and chert. Some fo the micrite clasts contain chalcedony-filled radiolarians and siliceous sponge spicules (240 and 60 microns in diameter, respectively). If fauna is not reworked, this sample and that from locality 24 are the oldest recovered from the unit Mlri. (description from Dover et al., 2004, p. 35 (Table 1)); [Howard Pass C-3 quad. 68°32.39', 157°28.9'. Ipnavik Lisburne(?) (block of strange limestone). Thin section is a breccia--matrix is clear, relatively coarse-grained anhedral calcite with sweeping extinction. "Clasts" include brown, noncalcareous mudstone, dark, clotty micrite, crinoid ossicles, dolostone, and chert. Some of the micrite clasts contain chalcedony-filled radiolarians (240 microns) and siliceous sponge spicules (60 microns). (description from Harris E&R report dated Sept. 17, 1993; Shipment no. This report is long (1.5 years) overdue, but I have been exceedingly busy writing papers, responding to reviewers and editors comments and preparing talks. I am finally returning to a partial E&R mode and your collections were at the top of the list. |
