Sample: Sample No. 91Tr05B
Locality: Field No. 91Tr05B
Description: Howard Pass C-3. Lat. 68o 31' N., Long. 157o 35.5' N. Sample from 1-m-thick lens of medium-brownish-gray-weathering, calcareous mudstone within black noncalcareous mudstone. Thin-section is carbonaceous dolomite crystal mosaic. Heavy-mineral concentrate includes very minor fluorite and barite(?). (description from Dover et al., 2004, p. 37 (Table 1)); [Howard Pass C-3 quad. 68°30.82', 157°35.75'. Kuna Formation: 1-meter lens of medium-brownish-gray-weathering, calcareous mudstone within black mudstone. Thin-section indicates "Kuna"-type dolomite crystal mosiac.

Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1993 (09/17)
This report is long (1.5 years) overdue, but I have been exceedingly busy writing papers, responding to reviewers and editors comments and preparing talks. I am finally returning to a partial E&R mode and your collections were at the top of the list.

Age: Silurian-Permian
Formation: Kuna Formation
CAI:Min: 1.5 - Max: 2
Comment:Age: Silurian-Permian; many samples from the Kuna Fm. of the Brooks Range allochthon in the western-most Killik River quadrangle and across the Howard Pass quadrangle produce relatively long-ranging conodonts of Osagean to Meramecian age. At the type section of the Kuna in the Howard Pass quadrangle, conodonts from 9 m above the base of the type section indicate the lower part of the anchoralis-latus Zone (late Tournaisian) and conodonts from 6 m below the contact with the Etivluk indicate a late Tournaisian or early Visean age (Dumoulin, Harris, and Schmidt, in press, ICAM volume)
Biofacies: Indeterminate (too few conodonts)
