Age: Permian (Middle Permian (Kazanian or early Guadalupian))
Comment:Locality 9A has abundant silicified specimens of a few typical Arctic Permian genera, suggesting that it might be a good place for a more thorough search to obtain a larger suite. This sample contains the best preserved and most abundant brachiopods of the entire shipment. The samples were etched to free silicified specimens many of which are somewhat distorted, but good enough for confident generic identification. The suite suggests the normal Arctic Permian fauna of approximately Kazanian or lower Guadalupian (Word) age. It resembles faunas from other parts of Alaska, from the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, East Greenland, and Spitsbergen, despite the few genera represented here.
