Referred by: William P. Brosge
Age: Hettangian
Comment:I agree with Norm Silberling (report dated 11/1/67) concerning the Hettangian age of the ammonites at localities 67ARR337-A through U. The ammonites are definitely psiloceratids and could be immature forms of Caloceras or Franziceras which are subgenera of Psiloceras.

Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1967 (11/01)
Report by: Norman J. Silberling
Referred by: William P. Brosge
Age: Hettangian
Comment:The ammonites in lot A are unquestionaly psiloceratids like Caloceras and are of Hettangian (earliest Early Jurassic) age. The ammonites in lots H and Q can also be referred to this genus with some degree of confidence, as can, with varying degrees of uncertainty, those in lots D, F, G, L, and N. Lots E and M contain rhynchonellid brachiopods of a kind expectable in Lower Jurassic rocks; the brachiopods in lots N and S are probably indeterminate. An undetermined pectenacid pelecypod characterizes lot I.

Most, or all, of the 120 feet of beds sampled thus represent the lowermost Jurassic.

All of the better specimens from this collection are being forwarded to Ralph Imaly for further confirmation of this conclusion. The remainder of the material, in which identifiable fossils are lacking, has been returned to Brosge.
