Comment: | Locality 64AR502 contains an evolute ammonite bearing straight simple, unbrached ribs that appear to terminate in tubercles high on the flanks. The lateral view is similar to that of the genus Tmetoceras which occurs worldwide in the lower Bajocian and is common in Alaska. That genus has a sulcate venter, which is not exposed on the specimen in hand. Without knowledge of the venter, a generic identification cannot be made. Similar appearing ammonites are more common, however, in the Lower Jurassic than in the Middle or Upper Jurassic. |
