Comment: | The brachiopods suggest a Leonard age, although they could also be Word. The cephalopods, however, are listed as Middle Permian by the Treatise, and PARAGASTRIOCERAS is dated as Artinskian (Leonard) by Nassichuk, Furnish & Glenister (1965, Geol. Survey Canada Bull. 131) in the Canadian Archipelago. On this basis I think a late Leonard age is warranted, especially in light of the Leonard age of sample 23430 which lies below. THAMNOSIA ARCTICA is the same as ANTIQUATONIA? ARCTICA of previous reports. We finally have a genus that this species seems to fit (Cooper and Grant, 1969, Smithsonian Contrib. Paleobiology, 1). |
