Description: North side of St. Lawrence Island. Sea bluffs, halfway between mouth of Fossil River and first basalt outcrops in Kookooligit Mountains. 20 feet below top of 40 foot bluff entirely composed of stratified marine sand and gravel. Approximate location: 63o 31' N., 171o 1 1/2' W. (15.3, 11.4) (St. Lawrence 1:250,000 quad.)

Comment:An unidentified Natica from Submarine and Intermediate Beaches could be clausa, and Mya sp. from all beaches at Nome may be pseudoarenaria. Otherwise there is nothing in common with Nome. Similarity with Kivalina is equally vague. I doubt this collection is very old.
