Comment: | This slide contains the following ostracodes: (see faunal list) The presence of Beyrichia (Scabribeyrichia churkini indicates a Siegenian to Emsian age, and the other taxa listed are compatible with this, with the exception of Platybolbina which has not hiterto been found above the Ordovician. Is there any possibility that the collection could be contaminated? B. (Scabribeyrichia) churkini and Rozhdestvenskayites? (described as "Aparchites sp. aff. "A." auriculiferus Rozhdestvenakaya, 1962 in U.S.G.S. Prof. Paper 825) occur in the McCann Hill Chert. B. (Scabribeyrichia) churkini and the smooth palaeocope ostracode, indet., also occur in the previously reported collection from Limestone Mountain in the Medfra B-4 quadrangle, Alaska. The genus Scaphina also occurs in the Limestone Mountain collection, but the species appears to be different. In spite of the Platybolbina sp., I think this collection is Early Devonian (Siegenian-Emsian) in age, and about the same as the Limestone Mountain collection. |
