Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1972 (03/17)
This report concerns two collections of leperditocopid ostracodes, one from Kosciusko Island and one from island with tr. Mink.
Report by: Jean M. Berdan
Referred by: A. Thomas Ovenshine
Age: Silurian
Formation:Heceta Limestone (Revised; Robert B. Blodgett, 02/09/2008 )
Comment:This collection contains the leperditiid Herrmannina sp. and an isochilinid, Sollenella? sp. The Sollenella? differs from typical Sollenella as described by Abushik (1960) in having a shallow sulcus behind the prominent eye tubercle; Sollenella is not supposed to have a sulcus. Otherwise, the specimens from Kosciusko Island appear to have the characters of Sollenella. Both Herrmannina and Sollenella range from the Silurian into the Middle Devonian, but based on the stage of development of the muscle scars I would guess that these specimens are Silurian, and possibly as old as Llandovery to Wenlock.
