Age: Middle Ordovician
Comment:The above assemblage could be either Middle or Upper Ordovician in age. The ostracodes Oepikella, Pyxion and Brevibolbina have all been described from the Ordovician of Scandinavia and Estonia, the first tow occur in both Middle and Upper Ordovician beds, the last apparently only in the Middle Ordovician. Oepikella also occurs in the Middle Ordovician of the Appalachians, and it is probable that Pyxion and Brevibolbina will also be found in this area when the fauna is more thoroughly studies. The last two genera have been only tentatively identified in this report as no specimens are at hand for comparison, and identification has been made on the basis of the literature. The species of Leperiditella, however, has been queried because although superficially very similar to Leperidetella tumida (Ulrich), the Alaskan form has reversed overlap of the valves, a feature which may prove to be of generic importance when this group is more thoroughly studied.

The brachiopod Christiania also is Middle or Upper Ordovician in age.

Although none of the forms listed here, with the possible exception of Pyxion, is confined to the Middle Ordovician, the general aspect of the fauna and the absence of Upper Ordovician species suggests that this collection is more probably Middle rather than Upper Ordovician in age.
