Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1983 (10/03)
Report by: J. Thomas Dutro , Jr.
Referred by: Julie A. Dumoulin
Age: Frasnian (middle Frasnian)
Comment:The single identifiable brachiopod from this collection, is fortunately, biostratigraphically significant. The partial brachial valve belongs to the morphologically distinct genus CALVINARIA, and the ribbing pattern places it in the C. VARIABILIS (Whiteaves) group, as described by McLaren (1962) from western Canada. This species complex is found only in the Frasnian and is limited to the middle part of the stage in western North America. This fully supports Bill Oliver's interpretation of the coral fauna from this collection (see report dated 9/14/83)
