Stratigraphic range: Devonian
Kinds of fossils: Marine invertebrates
Quadrangle or area: Arctic and Philip Smith quads., Northern Alaska
Shipment No.: A-60-27
Referred by: Brosge, William P.
Report prepared by: Dutro, J. Thomas, Jr.
Date: 12/13/1961

(in consultation with W. A. Oliver, Jr.) This report covers 12 collections, something over 150 specimens, from the Brooks Range. The Famennian age of at least a part of the Kanayut conglomerate is supported. The Frasnian age of the slate-sandstone unit is strengthened, and the collection from the limestone-siltstone does not change the earlier dating as probable Frasnian (see report on A-60-24 of 12/11/61). The suggestion that the Skajit limestone straddles the Middle Devonian-Upper Devonian boundary is again indicated. In this case, collection Be 684 contains a trilobite, Scutellum, like that described from the Tully of New York.

W. A. Oliver, Jr. previously reported on the corals (see report of 2/27/61); his identifications are included here to complete the fossil assemblages.

Is RR613 Kayak or Sadlerochet?
Are RR699 & 660 Lisburne or Devonian limestone like 60ABe 555 D and Be 557 of previous shipment?
Is RR613 Kayak or Devonian?
