Dr. Thomas D. Hamilton Branch of Alaskan Geology U. S. Geological Survey Alaska Pacific University, Gould Hall Unviersity Drive Anchorage, Alaska 99504 Dear Tom: The mammoth lower and upper jaws belonging to some small museum and collected by you at Ipiguruk Bluff, 14.9 m above river level at 955 m position along base, 16 km below Ambler, field number 82 AHa 148A, have just been packed for shipment back to you. Unquestionably they belong to the form that I have tentatively decided to call Mannuthus armeniacus, as differentiated from the presumed younger M. primigenius. As indicated, I would appreciate being advised of any C14 age you get from this individual mammoth. Thanks for your trouble and interest. Merry Christmas! Charles A. Repenning |
