Some of these collections are of potential interest and importance, but without more preceise locality data their value is greatly diminshed. Consequently, I'm enclosing the following 1:63,360 quads which I would appreciate having returned to me after the localities noted have been plotted on them by reference to the original field materials: Charley River A-2 quad. | Comment: | This is a badly mixed collection including:
(1) Monotis scutiformis of early Norian age;
(2) "Eumorphotis" nationalis Smith, Psioidea sp., and other pelecypods and brachiopods probably of late Karnian age from beds 200-300 feet stratigraphically below (1); and
(3) Productid and spiriferid brachiopods from the Tahkandit Limestone of Permian age. The ammonite present probably represents an undescribed genus known from the upper Karnian beds on Trout Creek and near the mouth of the Nation River. Would it be possible to determine the precise locality from which this ammonite was collected? The coordinates given plot about a mile north of any known exposures of Triassic along Trout Creek. |
