Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1968 (06/04)
Report by: J. Thomas Dutro , Jr.
Referred by: Irv L. Tailleur
Age: Meramecian (Late Mississippian (Meramecian))
Comment:This silicified material was dissolved in hydrochloric acid and the residue produced a diverse assemblage of fossils; the dominant elements are spiriferoid brachiopods and fenestrate bryozoans. The very large number of spiriferoid valves are, for the most part, crudely silicified and badly worn. They could all represent a single species, near S. haydenianus Girty from the Upper Mississippian of southeast Idaho. A few specimens attain the shape and size of S. brazierianus Girty. Also present are a few valves that may belong to Anthracospirifer. The entire assemblage is almost certainly of Late Mississippian (Meramec) age.

Note: Collection 58ATr1001, from beds possibly assigned to the Tupik Fm., was not found in with the other collections in this shipment. It can be considered lost. 58ATr1003 and 1004 are entirely coralline and were sent to A.K. Armstrong.
