Comment:The ammonite from locality RAL 115 on the Little Oshetna River matches very well with a densely ribbed species of Cranocephalites from Mesozoic locs. 24115 to 24117 and 22712. Species of Kheraiceras from the Chitina formation at a comparable size are more tightly coiled and have coarser, more widely spaced primary ribs. The ammonite from locality RAL 115 indicates, therefore, that the beds in which it occurs belong in the Cranocephalites zone. Of course, more evidence would be desirable.

The Lower Jurassic ammonites from the south side of the Matanuska Valley belong to the genera Arnioceras, Euasteroceras?, and Oxynoticeras? of Sinemurian age. Please prepare a locality description for these fossils.
