Stratigraphic range: Devonian and Devonian?
Kinds of fossils: Stromatoporoids and Corals
Quadrangle or area: Coleen and Black River Quads., Alaska
Shipment No.: A-67-14, Part I
Referred by: Brosge, William P.
Report prepared by: Oliver, William A., Jr.
Date: 02/27/1968

For convenience, the shipment of October 17 is covered in three reports following the grouping on your transmittal forms. Part I (here) covers those collections collectively labeled "Devonian(?)" and consisting mostly of possible Amphipora. Preservation is poor in all collections, specimens ranging from completely recrystallized to only mostly so.

I do still consider Amphipora to be indicative of the Devonian. I am now satisfied that it occurs in the Early Devonian (Gedennian) of Australia but I know of no pre-Middle Devonian occurrence in North America. It is world-wide in Middle and lower Upper (Frasnian) Devonian rocks.
