This report covers 11 collections of dominantly schistose rock that contain only recrystallized and mostly indeterminate organic remains. One of these (81ADn55) contained conodonts that were reported by Anita Harris to range from "late Early Devonian to early Late Devonian." The possible occurrence of Amphipora and tabulate corals in this collection is consistent with a Devonian age. Collection 81ADn55, may be the same age, but no recognizable organic remains were found in it.

One collection, 81ADn288, contains reasonably well-preserved coralline material and is also probably Devonian, perhaps early Late Devonian.

Three collections cannot be dated because no organic material is recognizable in them (81ADn48, 81ADn256, and 81ADn303b). The latter appears to be a carbonate pebble conlomerate. Apparently collections 81ADn99 and 111 were not received here in Washington.

All the other collections contain recrystallized fragments and "ghosts" of coralline material; they may also be Devonian, but this is only educated guesswork based on similarities to known dated collections nearby.

Unless you want any of this material returned, it will be discard by June 1984. Please send precise locality information for the presumed Chandalar quadrangle collections, at your convenience.
