Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Statement of problem and remarks: These corals and forams are from the same measured sections of Lisburne as the central Brooks Range cephalopod collections described by Gordon in Prof. Paper 283. Together with the cephalopod described by Gordon from the Skimo Creek section, they should provide a direct tie between the cephalopod zones and the coral and foram zones, and also help determine the age of the phosphate beds in the Lisburne. Collections were made by: Shainin, 1950; Bowsher, 1950; Brosge, 1951.

(description from Armstrong E&R report of 12/15/72); Brosge's transmittal sheet also provides following: Corals about 250 ft above base of phosphatic chert-shale member in Bowsher's estimated sections. (Cephalopods Bo-3 of 12 June--USGS 12084--are about 40 ft above base of chert-shale member in this section.

50ASn24 (14072-PC) , Chandler Lake , Chandler Lake quad., west side of Anaktuvuk River, 68 deg. 16 1/2' N., 151 deg. 36 1/2' W. Brosge's transmittal sheet also provides following: In section of Lisburne measured by Shainin. N.B. Bowsher worked parallel and simultaneously with Shainin, but made his own collections and his own (estimated thicknesses) section. Some of his collections were also logged in Shainin's section during the field work, but most are inserted by correlation of the Bowsher and sections. The correlation is good... Corals 50ASn24 and Bo5 of 15 June are from same unit (30 ft thick), 570 ft above the base of the phosphatic chert-shale member.
