Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
To my knowledge these are the first fossils ever collected in place from the rocks cropping out on the shores of Lake Minchumina. The age of the beds at the lake, and of those on strike for 80 miles has never been accurately determined. I would like to know the age relation of these rocks compared to any of those described by Nertie in USGS Bull. 872 or Eakin in Bull. 667. The sample 58ARb34 described by C. W. Merriam, 1-6-59, was float from the beach about 1/3 miles to the south and the outcrop from which this 1958 sample originated is unknown.
