Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
Pomeroy comments on transmittal form: "Lack of fossil data in area south of Tenakee Inlet is a major problem. It is believed that this limestone might be correlative with Kennel Creek limestone as mapped by Loney and Condon (Geology of Freshwater Bay, Chichagof Island, Alaska, in press). The Kennel Creek limestone contains similar fauna (type section is 15-20 miles northwest of Py128)." "Locality is 50 airline miles southwest of Juneau, Alaska, and two miles northwest of the head of Basket Bay, Chichagof Island. Limestone is dense and medium to dark gray. Most limestone in immediate area have been metamorphosed to marble. Amphipora(?) and/or Cladopora? are believed to be present. Molluscan(?) and bryozoan(?) remains are poorly preserved if at all present. Exact stratigraphic relationships have not as yet been worked out due to structural complications and incomplete mapping. However, it is believed that this limestone overlies a sequence of graywackes and argillites (DSa unit of Loney and Condon, Geology of Freshwater Bay, in press) which crop out along the shoreline northeast of the locality. Lat. 57 degrees 41' Long 135 degrees. Coordinates .05-12.65"
