Brief statement of problem and remarks (from collector):
The fossils submitted are from lenses of massive recrystallized limestone north of the Denali fault. A probably equivalent suite of fossils was collected in 1967 25 miles to the NW and were reported (Oliver 2/12/68) to contain Amphipora sp. and horn coral fragments of Middle or early Late Devonian age. Preservation was poor in the 1967 suite and the suites collected this year may yield a more precise age assignment. Moffit (USGS Bull 989-D, p. 99) reports Middle Devonian fossils from, as near as we can determine, the same locality as 70Amn-34, and Upper Devonian fossils about 3-4 miles to the E of the 70Amn-103 and –104 localities.
