Description: Alaska, Admiralty Island, Windfall Harbor, Sitka D-1 quad., coords. 2.81, 9.04; from dark gray, slaty argillite with in irregular beds of brownish gray limestone. Collector: R.A. Loney, 1959. [Loney's transmittal sheet of July 29, 1959 gives following description: "Argillite, dark gray, slaty, in 6" to 1' beds interedded with thin irregular beds of dark brownish gray limestone; appears to underlie thick volcanic section. Sitka D-1 quad. Coords: (2.81, 9.04). [Note by R.B. Blodgett: a partial Sitka D-1 quad. sheet is attached to the E&R report copy in the Anchorage USGS Alaska Tech. Data unit. This report covers a single collection (59ALy327) which is of Permian age. It very likely represents about the same beds as collection 57AL117 (shipment A-57-6) from the north-central part of Admiralty Island. Both collections contain the distinctive Permian brachiopod Muirwoodia.
