Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1972 (02/14)
Report by: William A. Oliver , Jr.
Referred by: Michael Churkin , Jr.
Age: Silurian (Silurian?)
Comment:The halysitid is a species of Catenipora, but not one that is characteristic of the Upper Ordovician as was considered possible over the phone. It could fall anywhere in the range upper Middle Ordovician-Upper Silurian (lower Ludlow).
One section cuts through the calice of a rugose coral that is more likely Middle-Upper Silurian than older.
