Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1971 (09/17)
Report by: J. Thomas Dutro , Jr.
Referred by: William P. Brosge
Age: Late Permian (early Late Permian (upper Echooka Member equiv.))
Comment:This collection contains a rich invertebrate assemblage.

These are characteristic Permian fossils and the assemblage resembles one from the limestone unit of the Sadlerochit Formation on Joe Creek. I would say that the age is early Late Permian (upper Echooka Member equivalent).

The report of nodosarid foraminifers by Armstrong (A-71-22M, 12/13/71) is supporting evidence of this age assignment as that family is unknown in pre-Permian rocks, as far as I am aware.

Collections are from top 50 feet of Lisburne, immediately below Sadlerochit in southernmost Lisburne visited. Table Mountain quad., Alaska. Coll: Brosge, 1971.

This suite of thin sections is devoid of microfossils such as certain species of archaediscidae, fusulinids, palaeotextulariidae and endothyrids which are characteristic of zones 20 and 21 of the Wahoo Limestone. There are found simple nodosaroid-like (poorly preserved) forms which appear to be similar to those I have seen in thin sections from the Tahkandit Limestone of east-central Alaska. These Table Mountain quad. Samples may well be Permian. I suggest you send them to Dr. Bernard Mamet for confirmation.
