Locality: Field No. 91Tr45E
Description: Howard Pass C-3. Lat. 68o 32.05' N., Long. 157o 32.8' W. Sample from dense, grayish-black, dark-buff-weathering, fine-grained limestone in 30-cm-thick interbeds within approx. 2-m-thick interval of platy shale; thin section is sponge spiculite, possibly bioturbated. Spicules (10-30 percent of slide) mostly silicieous but some calcareous and others pyritized. Local pale lenses of calcareous spicules and lesser peloids and micritized bioclasts in matrix of sparry calcite cement. Heavy-mineral concentrate includes phosphatic brachiopod fragments. (description from Dover et al., 2004, p. 36 (Table 1)); [Howard Pass C-3 quad. 68°32.06', 157°32.8'. Lisburne Group (Picnic Group (Picnic Creek allochthon?); thin section is spong spiculite, possibly bioturbated. Spicules 10-30% of slide--spicules mostly siliceous but some calcareous and others pyritized. This report is long (1.5 years) overdue, but I have been exceedingly busy writing papers, responding to reviewers and editors comments and preparing talks. I am finally returning to a partial E&R mode and your collections were at the top of the list.
