| Comment: | Three oblique sections of a fusulinid were encountered. None of the sections are really diagnostic, but all indicate a maximum range of Middle Pennsylvanian to Lower Permian age. My best guess on the meager evidence is that the Lower Permian age assignment is the most likely and that the sepcimens represent a form of Pseudofusulinella sp. |

In consultation with J. T. Dutro and Ellis Yochelson. This report is concerned with two lots of material collected from gravels tentatively correlated with the Nenana gravel and exposed in the ridge between McCallum Creek and Phelan Creek, just north of Isabella Pass. The fossil assemblages that occur in both lots suggest that the cobbles were derived from Permian strata. |

| Comment: | In addition to the fusulinids reported on by R. C. Douglass on June 28, 1960, this collection contains corals and bryozoans. The conspicuous horn coral in the cobble is somewhat larger than specimens described from the Lower Permian Belcher Channel formation of the Grinnell Peninsula in Arctic Canada, but our specimen seems to be closely related to if not identical with Caninia ovibos. Cyathocarinia has been identified previously in the Alaska Permian, and the bryozoan Rhomboporella is restricted to post-Mississippian rocks. The faunal evidence points to an Early Permian source for this cobble. |
