Comment: | Collection consists of many chips and small slabs of petroliferous, calcareous silstone that are crowded with specimens of the pelecypod Posidonia, frequently found in strata of this facies in many parts of the world. Posidonia is present, along with other pelecypods and Cravenoceras, at about 1000 ft. above the base of the Calico Bluff Formation in its type section. The age is Late Mississippian, probably a late Chester equivalent. |
