Though by the nature of the material the identifications are mostly quite inexact, these collections are significant in that they strongly suggest the condensed, but depositonally continuous, nature of the Shublik Formation. Depending on the age limits assumed for the Halobias in the lower beds, the 70 feet of strata from 22 feet down to 92 feet represent something between one and two stages of the Upper Triassic. A statement explaining my current usage of specific and subspecific names within the genus Monotis is attached. Many thanks for collecting this section for me. |
