| Comment: | The belemnites that you sent to Dave Jones were forwarded to me for inspection. These belemnites are labeled as from the Kingak Shale ..... They resemble the specimens I described as Cylindroteuthis spp. in USGS Professional Paper 274-D, p. 9, pl. 13, figs. 8-11, 14-17 and likewise vary somewhat in shape from cylindrical to slightly flattened or distorted. I suspect that they do not have much value for a close age determination. |
