Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1954 (03/29)
Report by: Ralph W. Imlay
Referred by: Arthur Grantz
Age: Middle Jurassic
Formation: Chinitna Formation; Tuxedni Group (Chinitna Formation or Tuxedni Formation)
Comment:Imlay favors assingment of this locality to the base of the Chinitna because one of the specimens of Inoceramus has a broad hinge similar to that of specimens in collections 52AGz185 and 215. Quoting Imlay: "The line of Inoceramus that appeared in the Fitz Creek member with Inoceramus eximius Eichwald, I. porrectus Eichwald, and I. ambiguus Eichwald (all probably variants of a single species) continued into the Chinitna Formation with little change. A detailed study will be necessary before this lineage will be of any use stratigraphically."
