Comment: | The ostracode assemblage contains a mixture of non-marine species with marine to marginal marine species. All specimens are worn and iron-stained. The non-marine species, branchiopod eggs and plant debris dominate the sample in numbers and quantity. The non-marine ostracodes are typical of those occurring in a stream environment. The environment of deposition is probably an estuarine setting, with non-marine input from a stream. The marine fauna is “typical Gubik” – ie, shallow water, nearshore, with reduced salinity at least on a seasonal basis. The species range from middle Pleistocene to modern. |
