Title: Report on Referred Fossils ,  1979 (05/08)
This report is concerned with three collections submitted in two different lots.
Report by: Norman J. Silberling
Referred by: David A. Brew
Age: Norian (late Norian?)
Comment:The flattened spherical objects in these rocks are suggestive of Heterastridium, as you suggest, but not enough of them is preserved to confirm this. If these really are Heterastridium, you are correct in regarding their age as Norian; thus far these critters have never been found except in upper Norian strata. Part of this collection is being returned to you as requested.
For all three of these collections [78DB109D, 78DV237A, 78DV238A], please keep in mind the principal that from the viewpoint of a triassophile all scrappy or problematical fossils are apt to be characterized in terms of things Triassic out of sheer ignorance of other possibilities.
