Comment: | One sample of silicified limestone (50AGz3) from the west shore of Iniskin Bay probably represents Upper Triassic. It contains fragments of a large Monotis similar to much better specimens collected by Kellum and Wedow from the Triassic Kamishak Chert in Ursus Cove southwest of Iniskin Bay. Furthermore, silicified limestone has not been found in the Jurassic of southwestern Alaska but is common in the Upper Triassic. The only limestone beds known in the Jurassic are in the Lower Jurassic and these beds are silty or sandy rather than siliceous. |
