Report on Referred Fossils

Fossils consist mainly of poorly preserved pelecypod fragments and internal molds--most too poorly preserved for positive identification, although some generic determinations are possible. All of the forms present are long ranging and do not constitute the basis for a precise age determination. They do indicate a shallow water marine environment, however. Other collections from the Bergman Group appear to substantiate an Albian age for part of this unit. (Loc. 53APa342 (24678) could not be located. Coll. 53 Apa348 (24679) consists of Aucellina sp. which may be Albian. The 1967 collection reported on by Imlay and Jones were not reexamined as the fossils apparently still in Washington). |
